Getting The Red Carpet Treatment!

I have had one hell of a week! Definitely a good week, but also it just seemed extremely LONG!

Christy Bareijsza is the owner of The Red Carpet, and one of my newest clients! She is an amazing event planner and she constantly has one event or another to attend. Her image is important and it is now my responsibility (I LOVE THAT) , to build her wardrobe and make sure she is presenting the right image. She has to be the sweetest person I have met in a loooong time! She is very much a girl after my own heart as she believes that once she finds someone who can do their job, there is really no reason to look elsewhere. Did I mention how talented she was??

You see I like people who actually realize that I know what I am doing and let me do what I do best. It’s not an easy feat for a lot of people to simply trust another individual. I get that, honestly, I do. But it is also a tad bit frustrating when you can see that something is really going to work for a person, yet…they can not see it themselves! I am not going to act like I am also not guilty of doing the same thing. When I first met my hair stylist Hadiiya Barbel (www.hadiiyabarbel.com) 4 years ago, I came to her with a set style in mind. I wanted the big afro curls that a lot of people were wearing with shades of blond. She had mentioned that it would be better if I had softer curls, but I was insistent! Needless to say, she did exactly what I wanted, and I HATED it!! I looked like Tina Turner!! No joke! Now I just sit in her chair and she decides what my next look will be. This is a relationship that has grown over the years…but it has never failed me yet. Down to my newest look – choppy bob with a streak of auburn in it! Would never have come up with that on my own - EVER!! She is really talented and has worked with so many people its ridiculous! Check out some of the people she has worked. Yup, they are all her clients. I should know since I bump into them regularly in the salon!! Tell her Remi sent you , if you ever decide to contact her!

Back to Christy…

I told her how I liked to work and found out she is one of those people who would rather not go into a store again if she could possibly avoid it. YAY!! Sounds like a match made in heaven, because if I had my way, I would be shopping everyday!

Once we figured out what are respective ideas were concerning her new look, we went through her closet trying to weed out what was needed and what was not. That took us about 2hrs, and then we hit the sample sale the very next day. Simon Showroom, which represents C+ C California, Paul and Joe, Citizens of Humanity and Elisa Coleman, was having their sale, which started that day. We were able to pick up a few things there and picked up even more at the ART OF SHOPPING sample sale in Soho on Saturday. That has to be where we did the most damage, thus far!!

She had a golf tournament to host for one of her clients and she looked like a million bucks…even if I say so myself!!

Keep looking out for THE RED CARPET ! When you see her picture on TV, you will know that’s all me!!

Did I mention I am not planning another party/dinner again?? Yup, that's Christy's job now! She really is THAT good!! I can also think about an official launch for my company too...hm mm!

As more and more people become comfortable with me blogging about them, I will mention more names. Until then...read on and imagine who they might actually be!

What you said about trusting your hair stylist is so true. I've had experiences where I went with my idea and came out looking funny, but when I trusted the stylist, I loved my look! I guess as your clients get more comfortable with you, they trust your judgement more.

i can totally understand why people would not want to make that leap of faith.. i do peoples hair myself.. so whenever i go to have my hair done. i am always extremely uncomfortable and critical of the stylist..because i have a vision and the finished product has to match it... i am happy that you found someone, who was able to make that leap with you.. It means you must be quite good..

@Fav...I have several clients that will trust me. She is new and doesnt mind being blogged about. Thats the major difference. The others want their privacy.

@Ijeoma...As a hairstylist, things are different with you obviously. You know exactly what you want!
But when I go to deal with clothing designers, I have an idea of what i want, but LOVE to collaborate. Mixing up ideas bring out the best results EVER!!!
My clients do trust me...buthtisis the first one to trust me so quickly. Then again...she has seen me countless times without realizing I did this for a living. Funny story is she noticed my hubby first and how he dressed. Since I do his shopping/styling...it finalized things in her book.

without measning to be rude, i checked out your website and iwas not particularly impressed with your sense of style. I think you are more about 'big names' than style. But i guess majority of your clientele would only want clothes designed by big names.

@enigma...your opinon isnt rude, its how you feel and we are entitled to our opinions.

Do remember that the only people that can really afford my full service only want designer clothing. On my website, many of the dresses were designed by Gina Velasco. she has been around for a few years and is extremely talented-she has shown a few collections in San Juan , but its not a gucci dress or anything like that... the jewelry was done by a lawyer who became a jewelry designer - Just So!...the list goes on!
My taste isnt for everyone (thats the good thing about being me-Lol),generally speaking you dont give every client the same look-they would end up looking like Robots or something-LOL! That was what i was working with at that time and I am very proud of it :-), my personal style is as diverse as it gets...but I style/shop for people according to their taste and what would work for them.

Thank you for the comment though...

awwwww! i feel so terrible now. I thot you might take my comment personal, glad you didn't . I guess i'm jealous cos i'm not glamourous at all and don't find dresses appealing. I am such a scruffy hippie at heart!!! maybe oneday when i'm making enough dough i'll employ ur services so that i can become 'glamourised'.

Remi... girl you have me wishing I could call you up for an appt. I desperatly need a new look. But I am going to wait until after I lose some weight. Its amazing that you are doing what you love ...and... you work in the city. So you can always jump on the train and be on 5th ave in a heartbeat... shoppers delight.

@enigma...it would take a lot to offend me. I am probably the most open-minded person ever, and i firm believer in freedom of speech...
when I said i was versatile, i truly meant it. I have days that I wear my sneakers, baggy jeans and ed hardy t-shirt. But I can also flip the script and be in a fierce dress with 4 inch heels. I truly go from one end of the spectrum to the other. You dont need to be embarrassed by any of it. Glamming things up really depends on you and where you are going.

@diary of a G...yes i listen to rap. guilty as charged!!! I just make sure my son is not in the car...thanks for visiting my page.

@mamabomboy...yes...very close to the city, however remember its tax free in NJ, so i try to get almost everything in NJ.

@babe...yes darling , i am a stylist and personal shopper. if you read both my profile and my past posts, it should give you an insight as to what I do. Its a bit difficult to post abt it too much as my clients would rather not be blogged about...
